First designated a park by the City of Brooklyn in 1847 at the urging of Walt Whitman, and designed by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux in 1867, Fort Greene Park is one of the most storied neighborhood parks in America.

Today, Fort Greene Park is still the thriving, bustling neighborhood park it was always meant to be. Rolling hills, open fields, playgrounds, as well as other amenities including a Visitor Center, basketball courts, and workout areas help complete the experience afforded by continually spectacular views of the city and neighborhoods the serves.

Fort Greene Park Users and Pets Society (PUPS) serves dog owners who use Brooklyn’s Fort Greene Park on a regular basis. We do this through education about Fort Greene Park and our responsibility as daily visitors, advocacy for our canine companions, promoting the benefits of off-leash exercise, and providing opportunities for social connection with neighbors in our community.
