The dog run is named for Homer Young Kennedy III.
Homer Young Kennedy III was a great friend to Inwood Hill Park and a tireless advocate for the neighborhood of Inwood. He was also a dog lover, proud papa to Josephine, a lovely Chocolate Lab.
It was through Homer’s hard work and perseverance that we are able to enjoy a fenced-in dog run for our canine companions to play in, and the Dog Run is named in his honor.
We lost Homer in 2004, but he will remain with us as long as Homer’s Run is part of the neighborhood.
It is run by Inwoof, a not-for-profit advocacy group for the Homer’s Dog Run in Inwood, Manhattan. We also serve as a community forum to discuss issues about pet ownership in our neighborhood. We share tips, ideas, resources and doggie kisses in the run. If you have a dog, live in Inwood, and are interested in joining Inwoof, we hope you will!
