This journey started on a quiet West Village street called Carmine where two brothers, Dave & Pete, without any business experience or even any kind of real plan, decided to open a restaurant. Their mission was simple – create a place where people would want to be. A pair of artists full of spirit and creativity, they used their little shop on 33 Carmine St. as their canvas. They named it after their dogs, Moose & Goose Lane.
Today, the Grey Dog has five neighborhood locations in Manhattan and still serves simple, wholesome American food, great coffee, beer & wine. It’s home to a team of artists, musicians, culinary pros, dancers and students whose pleasure is to serve you. The music is probably just a little too loud and the portions may be a little too big but that’s how we like it.
