Barking Dog (Upper East Side)

The Barking Dog Restaurant is a classic American dream story. Our owner arrived in the U.S. from Europe almost thirty years ago, with little more than an idea: create a friendly neighborhood restaurant where people and their dogs felt at home. Inspired by the vibrant energy of New York City, and the dog-friendly atmosphere, the Barking Dog was born!

Today, the Barking Dog is one of the most popular dog-friendly restaurants near Central Park. It’s a place where dogs, and their people, can dine in a fun, comfortable atmosphere, and enjoy some of the best casual American cuisine on Manhattan’s Upper East Side.

While dogs are not allowed inside New York City restaurants, we’ve created one of the most dog-friendly patios on the Upper East Side. So your fur baby doesn’t feel left out of the dining experience, our friendly service staff may even bring a round of treats over when they drop off your food.

Our menu features traditional American favorites like sandwiches, wraps, classic hamburgers, pastas, salads, and more. We also have a great kid’s menu. The Barking Dog has something for everyone – even your furry best friend!

Did we mention weekend brunch? We at the Barking Dog pride ourselves on offering one of the best dog-friendly brunches on the Upper East Side. Gather your friends (and their dogs) and join us for comfort food staples like fluffy pancakes, waffles, hearty omelets, frittatas, and bakery favorites like blueberry muffins and bagels – and, of course, mimosas!

When you join us at the Barking Dog, we want you, and your pup, to have the best experience paw-ssible! Because at the Barking Dog, we believe that dogs are family too.

  1. Great for humans and fur babies!
The Barking Dog is a great local spot on the Upper East Side and I’m never disappointed when I go. They are super dog friendly (as the name implies), has a lot of seating indoor and outdoor and great food as well.

Definitely recommend for brunch or dinner!
